Seems like most of the personal stuff I've seen online today (blogs, message boards, and similar) is polarized to one of the following extremes regarding Obama's win:

1) He's the next thing to the anti-Christ

2) He's the next thing to a Messiah

(I'm in neither of those camps.)

I am, however, irked by some of the local issues that did or didn't pass here in St. Louis...

Put me somewhere in the middle. I'll pray for all our leaders and support our new president, but I will not be worshiping him or anyone but God. The next few years could be quite interesting. I would especially like to hear what the college students who voted in their very first presidential election will have to say 10 years from now...will they still vote the same way or will they feel differently? Now there is a study of which I would like to hear the results.

Every election we go through gets more polarized, with each side demonizing the other. Ironically, the candidates seem to get more and more alike when it comes to big government. Witness both McCain and Obama supported the bailout. Here's what I wrote on my facebook that we'll likely see no matter which would have gotten in:

More militarization of police
More police checkpoints
More scrutiny of every financial transaction made
More warrantless eavesdropping on all private conversations
A continuation of and more assassinations from Bush II’s roving death squads
More screening of passengers (this will expand to move outside of airports)
Promotion of national ID so that everyone who’s “legal” will have travel papers
More tightly closed borders to keep people in as well as out
More meddling in other country’s internal affairs
More military scattered in nearly 800 installations in 130 of the world’s 190 countries
More Americans ordered out of their homes at gunpoint by our National Guard (right now its under the cover of protecting them from natural disaster but this will expand)
More mass snatching of children from their homes to protect them from religious fanatics (Texas style)
More disregard for the rule of law and the Constitution
More people in jail for non-violent offenses (we already lead the entire planet)
More babies dead through abortion
More national debt
More nationalization of private business (this used to be called Fascism)
Thousands and thousands of pages of more laws, regulations and edicts to control and monitor every facet of your free life
